The scene with the motorists forming a procession absolutely brought tears to my eyes. I mean, this whole movie is extremely touching but I think this is one of the parts that probably touched me the most.

This scene is truly awesome. The country side is awesome! A tremendous show of respect from the motorists ;)

The amazing part about this movie is...it actually happened.

I watch this movie on HBO every Memorial Day. Great, beautiful film.

@TheSRalston if you notice the lines on the road, the yellow lines closest to the car with Kevin Bacon are broken - - -, vs the lines next to them which are solid ____. the broken lines mean that a car can pass another if there is enough space to safely do so. if it was double solid lines then you cant pass at all or if it was double broken then both directions of traffic can pass.

This is my favourite scene in the movie. The only problem with it is the fact that the trailer is traveling on the opposite lane on a 2 way road, and suddenly, when the camera shows us the driver, we see something at 2:50 traveling on that lane, and in the opposite direction. If the trailer was using it, where did it went through? A very good movie, love how everyone shows respect to this difficult job. Kevin Bacon can do any role he´s given.

    ประเทศไทยควรมีหนังลักษณะนี้ เพื่อสดุดีวีรกรรมของเหล่านักสู้ผู้วายชนม์ ในสามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้บ้าง

Also had to add this.. Mike Strobl agonized on not being "over there" with his brother Marines, so he took Chance home as a way to make up for it. In my own opinion of the countless officers I served with ( some great, some bad and many in the middle, Marines and Navy), I myself would have have felt safe going into combat with him. Yes, I'm not a Grunt on the ground... but he had that "air" about him. He would take care of you.

The scene at the funeral home moves me the most. Even though Chance was disfigured and his remains "not fit for view" LtCol Strobel still insisted that he made sure his uniform was right. And all the nameless people back at Dover ensured that it was, even the person putting together his ribbons.... I'm a retired Navy vet... Hope I am honered the same way when my time comes.

It's been over a year since I first saw the movie (I OWN IT NOW) and not a week goes by that I don't tell some one to go get this movie. To our BRAVE men and Women who have or are serving, My sincere thanks. To the families who have lost someone while in service to our country, you will forever be in our prayers.

The scene where he sits down with the other marines who served in different wars was nothing short of chilling in the subtlety and undertones present throughout.

@aamorri1 I appreciate your thanks but, instead, please accept mine. You are the hero. And, I apologize that I just saw your response. Wear that Combat Infantryman Badge proudly.

Good day everyone. I am from India, I was deeply touched by this movie. People give their respects to the dead , though language and cultural differences may be there. Good contribution by everyone who has made a decent comment. Thank you. Regards, S.Suresh.

Truly the most moving movie I have ever seen. The true respect, Honor and Dignity shown to a fallen hero, is truly deserved. Thank you too the Phelps family to allow us to share this with them. May God Bless Chance.

@bigboyjack21 Also, it will hopefully stop other drivers from cutting you off from the line of cars, so you can all stay together. Finally, it can mean you're helping to light the way for the dead to get to the next world. In this case, I think it just shows that everyone's showing respect and wanting to help bring this soldier home. Note the trucker took his hat off. There was a time when removing your hat was a sign of respect.

@bigboyjack21 Funeral escorts always turn on their headlights. Also, if you leave the church or mortuary, following the hearse, and drive to the cemetery with all the other cars, it shows you are part of the entourage. Bright stickers that read "FUNERAL" may also be given to you to put on your window shield. In some states, as long as it's safe to do do, you may be allowed to drive through stop signs, red lights, so your funeral party stays together until you all reach the cemetery.

I feel like an idiot for asking, but why do people turn on there headlights?

@eawoodard God Bless your brother, from one soldier to the next, Thank You
