Kevin wanted to keep Mike on the path that Cus D'Amato started him on free from unecessary distractions and blood sucking leeches like Robin Givens and Don King. Instead of staying on that path, Mike wanted to go another way, down the path of his eventual self-destruction, and it was clear that Kevin would have never allowed that to happen without a fight, so he was forcibly removed.
