@zackrommel3840 It's called a standing 8 count. Someone else replied to you telling you about the rule with the ropes being the only thing that kept you from falling. That's true but in this case that wasn't what happened. If I fighter is taking a huge degree of punishment the ref can save the fighter a little by issuing a standing 8 count so he can get his bearings back. That is usually done in super fights so people can get their money's worth without the fight ending 2 early

@zackrommel3840 The rule is if the guy is going down and the ropes stop him from hitting the canvas, it counts as a knockdown. That didnt look to be the case from what I can tell though. So you raise a good question. I'm guessing it's just a difference in reffing styles or something.Who knows. All I know is standing 8s are for the amateurs.
