This song is amazing.
At the time, in the embryonic eighties, when I was young, I preferred Orange Juice and Aztec Camera. What was I thinking? Someone - Tony Blackburn, possibly - once said, "Youth is wasted on the young." Not arf! (No, that was Alan "Fluff" (?) Freeman, wasn't it?) Meanwhile, Josef K just keep on.... Josef K just keep on. End of.
@LockedPig Not all of it, but I know what you mean ; )
@XChanceXReactionX thanks! music after 1993 should be damned xD
I can't tell you how many times I've shared this with others. You played two very poignant elements off each other in a way that really hits hard. It's one of the finest clips of its kind I have or am likely to see. Thank you.
I loved this album, and even bought one for my girlfriend catriona who was into shit like adam and the arseholes What a huge pity the band members seemed to despise each other
so much like V underground - love it... and still have my warped copy
I'm here because Joy Orbison likes Josef K and I like Joy Orbison and now I think I like Josef K but it's honest.
Excellent post. Thank you so much!
I loved this when first heard it on John Peel.... off to Hays the music shop in Stirling and picked it up.... on Postcard records... complete with a free postcard ..... happy days!
Wonderful. Remember hearing it over the PA at a gig at the UEA, then went & bought the single the following day...
Bands today can't match up to bands like Josef K, they all sound like imitators sadly
@smokeemonkee yeah, i would see that too. they took on a more popish style, and lost that gang of four essance.
@cubanzombie Yeah, it's on Fast Product. And yes, Dave Allen and Hugo Burnham were a formidable rhythm section. The 2nd time I saw them Sara Lee had replaced Dave Allen and it was much different.
@smokeemonkee thank you, maybe. maybe not. but josef k are best kept a secret at times. wow, thats amazing. i myself prefer the original line up. especially dave allen, he made the band for me, so did hugo burnham, keeping a solid rhythm for gill and king to do their thing, a signed classic, was it on the fast product label? ive heard of them, but i havent given them a listen, but i will.
@cubanzombie Your opinion sounds intelligent and well thought out. I never got to see Josef K (I live in Texas but I'm not sure they ever played in the US) but I got to see GO4 twice, the first time in a tiny club in Dallas for $5 and got to hang out with them and got my Damaged Goods EP signed by all 4 original members. Ever heard Pylon? They were an American band somewhat similar to GO4.
@smokeemonkee well interpols second album is about the only decent one. they arent too interesting, musically or lyrically. they seem to rip off their post punk forefathers in the worst way. i feel influence is good until a band really gets their own sound...and well interpol compared to josef k or joy division...are no where around them. i hate that post punk revival, its watered down and emotionless. to me from that time...the real post punk timeline, i enjoy early gang of four. in my opinion.
@cubanzombie I'm sorry cubanzombie, I wasn't trying to correct or make myself feel better. It's just that I've liked Josef K since their 1st 45 and I've seen bands appropriate their unique sound but they still remain pretty an unknown cult band. Interpol thinks no one will notice their blatant plagurisms and that is lazy and dishonest to me...in the meantime, Interpol sells more records and CD's in a year than were ever pressed for Josef K. Know what I mean? And that is just my personal thought
@smokeemonkee i guess man, i know these guys came way before interpol. their from two different countries. whatever makes you feel good, i was just commenting my personal thought. thanks for correcting me.
@cubanzombie Do you mean "interool stealing their schtick from josef k comes to mind in the first 20 seconds or so"?
love the song, the film and Kafka, therefore i love you,
The" K" were such a good band... ooh u wooh u wooh!
Sounds like it could of been made today and still sound as new.
its a really bloody good job....most of these kinds of videos are annoying as hell but thats so perfectly done.
