@clash4life I totally hear you on your statement. I think of sooo many bands of today that MUST have been heavily influenced by these guys. The Killers, Foster the People, Peter Bjorn and John................you fill in the rest of the blanks

yoyoitscorry, NME & sounds both siad they'd be the next Joy division after Ian curtis died... then they went and broke up?!

  3. Apr 20, 2011 at 02:32 AM by ComteLafon

@jadeplocka that would be because Orange Juice copied Josef K.

A few changes to the lyrics posted above. I think I'm right :-) 4th line opens - When Heaven Next verse - An Invitation (instead of A limitation) Later on - Maybe I'll get there just in time I'll sneak (or is it Stick) around they'll be a way If it is like Orange Juice's Turn Around it might be because Malcolm Ross joined Orange Juice after leaving Josef K after they disbanded - perhaps he wrote the tune.

    My favorite Josef K. song!

Nice one - my favourite Josef K track! And yes - it was recorded for the Peel session in 81 or 82 - but was only released as a single in 87 before the Endless Soul (best of) LP came out. Prior to that , my taped version suffered from interference and hiss from the FM radio prog it was taped off. At least Peel had the good grace not to witter throughout the beginning and ending of the track like most Radio 1 DJs would have (assuming they were cool enough to play Josef K that is)!

@jadeplocka good call. Really good call. I noticed the same thing.

@jadeplocka Fuck your right! I listened to 30 seconds of it and it was so similar. Any chance you can upload the full version or send me a link to one? I couldn't find it.

@ComoParkStudio: I don't think you can blame Josef K for Franz Ferdinand, surely?

  13. Mar 11, 2010 at 06:57 AM by jadeplocka

Anybody notice the similarities it has with Turn Away by Orange Juice?

Leave those inferior plagiarists of the current so-called post-punk revival out of this, please. As if most of them are even familiar with original scene genre beyond the same 4-5 bands they all rip off (of which this band would definitely not be among).

  15. Feb 24, 2010 at 08:00 PM by theclashmaster1991

......No Wave genre of music is an art, like what Josef K did.

  16. Nov 29, 2009 at 06:20 AM by ComoParkStudio

The Editors to some extent yes (more from Joy Division and other post punk/electronic), but Franz Ferdinand, most definitely.

this must be the fuckin mainstream... :DD

Absolutely the same lyrics as Haig's solo "Heaven Sent" from April 1983.

  19. Sep 7, 2009 at 09:47 PM by therealsoulproduct

Now you know where the Editors got their style from.

HAIG, PAUL relive Release Date: Nov 16 'relive' is the new album from paul haig, the former front man of cult post-punks josef k. marking haig's third new album in as many years, it's more evidence of a remarkable surge of creativity from the man who once vowed never to sing or perform on stage again.
