Yes, the film "Taking Chance" is amazing, some dramtic license, but accurate converning the major points, and what STATE it took place in!! THIS clip is NOT FROM THE MOVIE, rather from a PBS documentary and as frequently so with PBS, is full of intential, misleading, erroneous ideas that many WANT you to believe. And, if you are a hardworking taxpayer, your taxes helped pay to broadcast it. How cool is that? (NOT!)

I would just like to correct you. My teacher was a friend of PFC Phelps in high school and he was brought to Dubois, Wyoming to be buried. Semper Fi

This film is outstanding....Bacon's role is much more than master.... From Spain, we pray to God for the Americans died in action. For their families, our love and support

I am an army veteran(69th sig. co. Ft. Huachuca, AZ), though I didnt serve in combat my husband did. I will not apologize nor do I regret putting on the uniform every morning while most were sound asleep safely in their beds. All I can say on behalf of my husband and the other men and women who did serve in combat is.....You're Welcome.

You love this nation but are not willing to have people die for it? Please, we had no reason to go into any place that CRONIES like Clinton placed us. Over twice the amount of troops died while a draft doger Clinton was in office. Can you name a legal war we were in then? NOPE. So get off you soap box, Bush did what he thought was right for you and me to keep living in this great nation. If you dont like what he did then fine but dont prosecute him for doing his job.

Bitricky.... While I am sure there are many that agree with you, this wasn't a time to throw out this soap box stance. This was an opportunity to "RESPECT" what the men and women are doing as their duty. So let's give respect to this movie and the loss of this young man along with the profound message of compassion we, the people, have for each one of our fallen. SEMPER FIDELIS!

I just gave you a thumbs up

  21. Feb 20, 2009 at 04:39 AM by bitricky

why give this dude's comment thumbsdown? YES, it is divisive and we must all look forward. However failing to prosceute this war ciminals, US will lose its moral standing in the world. What protects us are not only mere weapons jets, but our enduring beacon of LIBERTY, JUSTICE AND DEMOCRACY. In prosecuting Bush and his cronies, we are indirectly protecting and upholding our troops. They want us to carry on the good fight for them. PLEASE. I pledge loyalty to US and its troops, not Bush.

  22. Feb 20, 2009 at 04:36 AM by bitricky

for what? liberty? Can we set the record straight for once? we all love this great nation that is the United States. No doubt. The iraq war is an illegal war. It is fought on a false premise. I greatly respect the troops who are fighting for us both in Iraq and Afghanistan. I shed a tear for every fallen servicemen. But we need to know that the Iraq war was a illegal war -- there was no WMD and no operational connection with Al Qaeda. Bush and his cronies lied to us and the troops. Bush lied.

I just found out about this documentary and the powerful story behind it. I also read many of your comments and completely disagree. However this is what PFC Phelps died for. It is sad that we can't celebrate his sacrifice. May God bless the family and Officer Stoldt as well. Oh wait a minute is it also taboo to recognize God as well.
