And also your point about mayweather is stupid, both fighters would get dominated so its equal, they are 2 different sports don't compare them

  2. Feb 8, 2012 at 04:02 AM by atrde5448

Ortiz/ mayweather, cotto/ margorito, and 2 manny pacquiao fights netted 4.36 million buys last year, all 16 of the UFCs events totalled 6.79 million buys. Clearly boxing is not dead and still has huge drawing power.

  3. Feb 4, 2012 at 06:44 PM by musood6630

@Immortalsyn83 I never said it was the fastest rising, I just said Ortiz/Mayweather was the no.1 fastest rising sport event of 2011. Yes some of the PPVs were quite frankly disappointing. There was once a time where boxing was the no.1 sport. Obviously things have drastically changed since then and boxing has not been in the high spot as much as what it was before. I give props to MMA for becoming something but to say boxing is dead =retarded.

Boxing is an art you can learn it over night, any one can brawl but not many people can actually say they're a classy fighter

  6. Jan 31, 2012 at 11:15 AM by Immortalsyn83

@musood6630 Boxing's had over a century to build a fan base, its far from the fastest rising sport. It was the most popular combat sport in 2011, however as a fan I was disappointed with the majority of those PPV's. I still want my money back from Hopkins vs Dawson. Floyd vs Ortiz was a shitty fight too... A completely one sided fight with a frequent headbutt attempts & a massive cheap shot at the end. That bout all around was a terrible display of sportsmanship.

  7. Jan 30, 2012 at 11:16 PM by musood6630

Ignorant toad. I don't get how Mayweather making 60million in his last fight or Pacquiao raking 22 million shows boxing is dead. Yes boxing is not at it's prime such as the 70s golden age or the era of 90s etc. But it's still producing talent. There are young kids 6 year olds etc. still training in boxing. Your argument is flawed. The PPV numbers of boxing always outdo MMA, and according to Google Mayweather and Ortiz was the fastest rising sport event of 2011. Now go die in a hole.

@JuxhinBox MMA is a full body combative sport, its 8 limb combat with takedowns & submissions. Of course not, when I first started watching MMA I didn't even know what a kimura was. Even until I took BJJ I didn't understand how to use one or chain/transition to another submission. You should see Frank Mir vs big Nog 2 at UFC 140 as an example of how submissions can be extremely exciting. The more you know about a sport, the more entertaining it is to the spectator.

  9. Jan 29, 2012 at 12:12 PM by JuxhinBox

@Immortalsyn83 Full body? Jesus christ since when did a fight with JJ backgrounds turn out to be exciting? Grappling is entertaining? You think everyone who watches UFC understands it?

  10. Jan 29, 2012 at 10:40 AM by Immortalsyn83

@JuxhinBox The difference is one is full body combat, therefor the engagement distances are different. It's easier to make a mistake in 8 limb combat or get taken down so you need to stay a bit more reserved depending on the match up. MMA is a complex sport as I said, you are probably bored because you don't understand the intricacies of grappling. I know it's hard for me to watch a sport I don't understand. You should watch Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama.

  11. Jan 29, 2012 at 01:05 AM by JuxhinBox

@Immortalsyn83 I understand the way your putting it and it does seem right but MMA is made up of alot of arts put together, including Boxing. The difference is Boxing goes much much more in depth. I find it much more boring and less action packed than Boxing. Personal opinion, i respect your opinion also.

@johnciv6 wow im so terrified of someone who makes fun of disabled people and tells me to die yea il definitly stay away from you

    @IrishWeeLad Go die retard

  14. Jan 28, 2012 at 03:24 PM by Immortalsyn83

@JuxhinBox You are one to speak saying things such as "boxing takes much much more mind than MMA" when you know its only one aspect of MMA. I am a fan of boxing too but I am speaking the truth. I never said boxing was dead, boxing has always been popular in europe. It was practically invented their! If we can agree boxing is one aspect of fighting then yes MMA is far more complicated to understand for both a fighter & the audience. That doesn't make either sport better, its preference

  15. Jan 28, 2012 at 02:46 PM by JuxhinBox

@Immortalsyn83 Lets assume just for one second you were right (which you aren't). The fact that all these MMA fans just come and think they can run us boxing fans over. How can one single man judge whether a sport is dead alive? Tell me, who the hell is this man? Where i live (Europe) Boxing is rising, and its rising fast. I don't want to write another bible on how wrong you are saying Boxing is easy to understand cause if u look at it that way then MMA is 2 men fighting with pants in a cage.

  16. Jan 28, 2012 at 10:21 AM by Immortalsyn83

@JuxhinBox The simple truth, you can know longer call yourself the best fighter in the world if you can't defend against simple leg kicks & takedowns. Boxing is only one aspect of fighting so it actually requires only a fraction of the knowledge needed to compete in MMA. BJJ alone has hundreds - thousands of techniques & again is only one aspect of fighting. Boxing is just easier to understand, that's just how it is...

  17. Jan 28, 2012 at 10:12 AM by JuxhinBox

Your point is very very retarded. Why? People don't box to be the toughest all round fighters in the world. They box so that they can be the toughest boxers. I aint gonna train MMA so i say i can beat a boxer in a ring. Its retarded. It is very obvious that boxing takes much much more mind than MMA does.

  18. Jan 27, 2012 at 03:59 AM by mrBlackhawk777

If boxing is dead then why do boxers make so much more then MMA fighters and the biggest fight in the world is Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

  19. Jan 26, 2012 at 11:11 AM by saulhudson420

@IrishWeeLad I know it, boxing today sucks. But all it takes is for one person to bring it back. Someone with heart and charisma and someone who's entertaining.

  20. Jan 26, 2012 at 10:35 AM by IrishWeeLad

@saulhudson420 if you even watch boxing now its sloppy and the fighters are a joke, i probably even have more heart than them now for gods sake

  21. Jan 24, 2012 at 06:00 PM by saulhudson420

@IrishWeeLad There will be someone who meets their standards eventually. Don't worry. It just takes someone with heart to bring back the sport of boxing. Just like Marciano, Ali, Frazier, and Tyson did. Most people today just don't have the heart those guys had, but boxing will come back as soon as someone brings excitement back into it.

  22. Jan 24, 2012 at 04:01 PM by IrishWeeLad

@saulhudson420 theres watered down versions of them in manny pacquiao and floyd mayweather, theyre closest to the best but no one will ever meet muhammad ali or mike tysons standards

  23. Jan 22, 2012 at 03:02 PM by Sammy2g3

I'll take boxing sky john.....I watch MMA too, but I prefer boxing...they're 2 different sports....

  24. Jan 22, 2012 at 09:43 AM by hondaciviccoupe10

I'm a fan of both. MMA is constantly evolving while boxing is at a standstill. Boxing needs to evolve a little bit to keep their fans. Some people may disagree but I think they should start allowing the spinning back fist in boxing. It's been responsible for several knockouts in MMA. It would make boxing a little more interesting and exciting for the fans. Thumbs up if you think boxing should allow the spinning back fist.
