@bboyigor69 You get knee'd and kicked when you move your head too much in kickboxing or muay thai

  2. Feb 7, 2012 at 08:38 PM by MichoTheMusicMan

@bboyigor69 because if you dont move you head your opponent will move it for you

  3. Feb 6, 2012 at 12:47 AM by kevinsta117

@bboyigor69 because boxing its obvious what is coming at you so easy to dodge, kickboxing you need to keep your hands up because if you get caught your in trouble.

@bboyigor69 Oh and it is also not recommended to bob and weave or go down too low in muay thai or K-1, this would make you very much vulnerable to knees and kicks to the head

  5. Feb 5, 2012 at 11:53 AM by JasonZification

@bboyigor69 In boxing the guy is worried mostly about punches to the face so most of his effort would be to avoid damage to the face hence the need for continuous head movement and bobbing n weaving. On the other hand in K-1 there is a lot more to worry about than just punches to the face, for instance there are kicks and knees and these can only be blocked so head movement is not of great help.

@bboyigor69 If you move your head out to the the side a lot, you'll be out of range of punches, but in perfect range for an opponent's kicks.

can somebody tell me why in boxing the fighters move their head so much and seem very agile whereas in kickboxing (K-1) they seem to be more "standing" with little head movement?

I am really enjoying thsese videos. I boxed when I was a teen. Now am 41 and starting again (just for working out, not trying to compete.) I love it and it is still the best way to be in shape.

About karate. I was in a dojo where this orange belt kid beat a brown belt who was older than him. The kid with the orange belt was 15. I'm not saying it's completely useless, but if after years of practice you still get your ass handed to you, it might not be so great. It wasn't an in-class sparring session either, it was in a tournament.
