ali didnt only make a gr8 record, he made new style, many tactics, he was a change in the whole boxing tactics, he made boxing more interresting & as the other said ali fought against wild beasts. He also had a challanging life from prison & standing for his ppl rights, thats y he is the GREATEST.

I'm a big fan of Marciano but unfortunately his record of 49-0 has been said by many critics to be against nobody's and washed up40 class fighters like Joe Louis....his close ties with the Mafia also drew critics to speculate that some of his opponents threw fights...I still highly rate Marciano, but, in all honesty he is no ALI

So what ?. Middleweight Sugar Ray Robinison's record of 80 straight wins and 40 knockouts makes both look average. The point was rightly made before that it's WHO you fight not your record. That's why Tyson, even though he was a great fighter, will never be held in as high regard as Ali. I suggest you watch the Ali/Foreman fights. They are simply epic in a way that will probably never be seen again.
